Secretariat Registration Form
Between six and eight students will have the opportunity to serve as Secretaries in our inaugural Model United Nations Secretariat. Each Secretary will work under the direction of the Secretary General, and will be responsible for the issues affecting his or her Secretariat Department; he or she will be relied upon as an expert delegate of a particular category of international issues. Each Secretariat position will be unique (similar to YIG Governor's Cabinet) and each Secretary will hold one of the following positions:
- United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights
- United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees
- Chief Executive, United Nations International Drug Control Programme
- Executive Director, United Nations World Food Programme
- Executive Director, United Nations Environment Programme
- Executive Director, United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS
- High Representative for Disarmament Affairs
- Under-Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations
- Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs
- Under-Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs
Good Secretaries will understand that their positions will be highly research-intensive, and, therefore, a lot of work. They will function as researchers, lobbyists, advisers to the Secretary General and other component Presidents, situation experts, and, possibly, as intent speakers. Members of the Secretariat MUST HAVE ATTENDED ONE HIGH SCHOOL MODEL UNITED NATIONS CONFERENCE PRIOR TO THIS ONE.
Interested students must APPLY to be members of the Secretariat.
